derivam da junção de iniciais de outras
palavras?

é: Sound,
Navigation and
Ranging
A origem de LASER
é: Light Amplification
by Stimulated Emission
of Radiation
Sonar e laser são
"acrônimos" (acronyms).
Acronyms are
words formed from the first initials of several
words.
Acronyms are not
abbreviations! Abbreviations are shortened or
modified words. Example: for television, TV; for
Christmas, Xmas; for condominium,
condo;
etc...
If you come to
the USA and someone offers you a BLT... Would you accept
it? What about
a PB&J?
It's important
to know! These and more acronyms are coming
