"The
Early Bird Gets the Worm"
Vocabulário e Expressões em
Inglês
04/28/10
Como traduzir certas expressões sem
perder o sentido original do
texto?
E como dizer em
inglês:
O texto abaixo
(que assinantes LEP receberam por email) é
basicamente uma conversa entre amigos... observe como
usar as palavras e expressões em inglês que você ainda
não conhece, e veja a seguir qual o significado das
palavras
grifadas.
"Early to bed and early to rise makes
a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."
Benjamin Franklin
It's 6am in
Rockford and I am up and
running!
How's that for a change? I've had soooo many things to do
that I am literally going NUTS! That's why
there was no Nuts yesterday - usually I send them on
Tuesdays, but not yesterday.
To compensate that, I got up
earlier today. I am not much of an early bird - I know
that "the
early bird gets the worm" - but my worms usually are late too,
ahaha, so I can sleep late!
Not
today!
Today I
made a point
of not sleeping in. I woke up at 5:30am, I
stretched, and forced myself out of
bed. I did my morning things (you know... all that
bathroom stuff), and came down to my office like if I
were sleepwalking. I got my big cup of black coffee
and here I am, talking to you.
I went to bed late last
night, too! So today I may walk around like a
zombi, yawning all the
way! I have
an appointment at 8:00am and another at 10:00. Let's
see how it goes -- ( I can't wait for the night to
come again, so I can go back to bed!
ahahah)
This
chit
chat is
to introduce to you a handful of new words and
expressions.
You may know most of them...
some other fellow students may know just a few. If you have
a truckload of new words at once, it can
be overwhelming anyway... so, let's
quit while we are
ahead.
If you have questions about
other words (not listed below) visit Mr. Webster's
page
http://www.learnersdictionary.com/search/home
for English-English
definitions, or
http://dictionary.reverso.net/english-portuguese/catch
for English-Portuguese. I always
recommend you use Englis-English first. This way you enrich
your vocabulary twice, and train your brain to the
language.
"There is a time for many
words, and there is also a time for sleep."
Homer
