Sabe aquela
situação de aborrecimento e impaciência, em que você
não agüenta mais e diz: "Estou cheio!" ou "Estou de
saco cheio!" ou ainda: "Estou cansado disso!".
São expressões corriqueiras, mas como dizer isso em
inglês?
Also in
English we can get fed up with
things! So that's how we say:
"I'm fed up
with this situation!" (cheio, de saco
cheio)
I'm fed up
of you, go away!
Em inglês
americano, "fed up" vem normalmente seguido
de "with"; em inglês britânico às vezes
aparece seguido de
"of".
Read the
dialog below:
"Samantha said
she was fed up with your
delay."
"Really? I
don't care! I am sick of her anyway! I'm
the one who is fed up!"
Obs: "I'm sick of that!"
(cansei disso, enjoei) é também
mais uma forma de dizer o
mesmo.
These colloquial expressions come from the
idea of being overfull (cheio demais)
as a consequence of having
overeaten (comido demais).
Note que o
verbo "fed" is past tense of
"feed", which means "alimentar".
"Feed up" is a phrasal verb
meaning
"encher".
I hope you get
well fed when you eat your lunch, but don't
get fed up with things... It's not a
nice feeling, is it? ;-)
