E quando o assunto é uma compra, e
você precisa dar uma "entrada" e pagar o resto em
"prestações"?
Como dizer isso em
inglês?
E "sub emprego"? Não... não vá dizer
"under job"!

"John nunca quis conhecer coisas
novas. Nunca saiu do bairro onde mora, nunca estudou o
suficiente, e hoje ele tem um sub-emprego
com o

consegue sustentar seus pais
idosos e doentes. John
sonha
acordado em ter uma casa própria, mas ele
não tem
condições de
pagar prestações
, nem mesmo de dar
uma entrada! John está ferrado!"
Abaixo estão duas versões da mesma
tradução. Compare as duas, e se você tiver
dúvidas ("por que assim e não assado"), me
pergunte!
John never
wanted to know new stuff. He never left the neighborhood
where he lives, he never studied enough and today he has
a menial job with which he can barely sustain his
old and sick parents. John day dreams of buying his
own house, but he doesn't have conditions to
pay the installments, not even the down payment! John is
screwed!
Now, a better
version. Observe how it flows
better...
John has
never been interested in new stuff. He has never left
his neighborhood, he has never studied enough. Today he
has a menial job and he can barely sustain his elderly
and sick parents. John day dreams of owning a house, but
he can't afford the installments, neither the down
payment! John is screwed!
See the
differences? Both are correct. The first one is more of
an "elementary level", it's almost too literal (ao
pé da letra), although it is correct and perfectly
understandable. The second version is more
of a "fluent level".
Como conseguir
chegar a uma vesão mais fluente? Praticando! Como?
Lendo, comparando, escrevendo, ouvindo, repetindo, e
perguntado os "por quês" toda vez que você tiver uma
dúvida ou uma curiosidade.
