Quando você
aprende algo novo, quer seja na sua área profissional,
ou nos estudos, ou mais especificamente nos estudos de
inglês, qual é a forma de aprendizagem que mais facilita
a retenção do conhecimento na sua
memória?
a) técnicas de
imposição (você TEM que decorar e tem que PROVAR -
através de testes - que aprendeu
mesmo);
b) técnica de
assimilação natural por interesse genuino (você gosta do
assunto, ou tem outras motivações para aprendê-lo, e
assim acaba descobrindo e analisando formas diferentes
de pensar e entender o ponto em
questão).
O que é mais
produtivo a longo
prazo?
Of course,
what's more effective in the long run is the
assimilation of what you learned. If you just memorize
to test well, you will need later to clear your mind in
order to put more and fresh stuff in it. And so on and
so
forth.
Na faculdade, você
pode tornar-se o primeiro aluno da classe mas isso não
garante que houve total assimilação daquilo que você
andou
estudando.Você pode ter
apenas seguido as regras... feito todos os trabalhos,
comparecido a todas as aulas, participado ativamente...
But, did the knowledge really
stick to you, or did you just memorize and do your job
because you are a good
student?
Muitos "ótimos
alunos" estudam com o propósito de estudar apenas, como
se fosse uma função a ser desenvolvida, uma obrigação: a
de estudar e passar nos exames. E não com o propósito de
aprender e assimilar a longo prazo. E mesmo assim são
considerados os melhores alunos da
classe!
If you are a teacher (especially in
public schools or Universities) - are you aware of this
fact as far as training, motivating and testing your
students? Would you rather have good students (the
ones who do the assignments and score well in exams), or
have knowledgeable, motivated and open-minded
people in the society (people who YOU are training and
motivating)?
A grosso modo,
motivação e pensamento crítico é o que falta à maioria
dos estudantes. E sinto dizer, mas falta também à
maioria dos professores. E assim a lavagem cerebral se
alastra e
perpetua.
To practice a skill is great and
necessary - only this way you can develop your
knowledge.Not by memorizing or scoring well in
exams. We all know that the more we do something, the
more we learn about that thing. The more we research,
and read, and EVALUATE what we read, and COMPARE
information, and prove it... the more knowledgeable we
become. This mental process is what makes you smarter
than average.
So, with a college degree, or a Ph.D.
to your credit, you may or may not be successful. Only
what determines your knowledge is what you do with it;
it's how you absorb information and THINK about it. It's
not your
credits!
You research, you challenge other
opinions, you challenge yourself, you debate, question,
prove it! Then you get somehwere! With or without
a
diploma.
You may need a diploma only to
have a
"job".
But, to make money, to be
successful, and be an expert in your field, you
need critical
thinking.
If you are a student, think about
that.
If you are a teacher, think about that
too, and better yet, motivate your students to do the
same.
When they succeed, you will be their
hero!

entender 100% do que ela fala, não se preocupe. Tente
"pegar" a idéia geral, e palavras soltas. Ouça de novo e
de novo. Quanto mais você ouve, mais seus ouvidos (e
cérebro) se acostumam às palavras, e sua compreensão
aumenta.

aluno, especially high school or college
student, develop your critical thinking and do NOT
accept all what is imposed to you. That's brainwashing!
Think on your own!

professor/a, inspire your students! Motivate
them to think on their own and make their discoveries,
and be passionate about what they do.
That's the way to gain real knowledge and become
successful.
